JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety

  • Job site start-up and clean-up

  • Commission systems 

  • Inspect attics to verify the structural attachment

  • Pull inventory for projects

  • Work from plans and schematics to implement custom-designed systems

  • Layout solar modules and arrays

  • Assemble mounting hardware

  • Mount racking, modules, and electrical equipment

  • Wire AC and DC electrical systems

  • Job documentation – take photos, time keeping, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL

  • You will mostly be working in the field. Though at times you may be needed in the office or warehouse.

  • Up to 50% travel, occasionally on short notice.

  • May be assigned to projects more than 100 miles away from home with frequent site visits required.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to work in hot, cold, and wet weather. Our ideal candidate must also meet these basic requirements:

  • Have a valid driver’s license

  • Be able to safely lift 50Ibs

  • Desire to learn and master all aspects of installing solar

  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated, well-organized

  • Be a team player who listens, learns, and actively communicates

  • No fear of heights -able to climb ladders and work on roof edges while harnessed

  • Have some experience with mechanical installations, general construction, and ladder/staging/roof work, etc.

  • Have experience with hand-held and power tools

  • Be a visual thinker, good at problem-solving and implementing ideas

  • Be environmentally minded

  • Be detail-oriented 

  • Be clean and courteous, foul language is not tolerated

  • No tobacco use on the job sites or at offices

  • Must consent to a drug and/or alcohol test at anytime

  • Must submit and pass a FBI criminal background test

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with any of these additional qualifications are preferred.

  • H.S. Diploma 

  • Two-year degree in technology/industrial arts

  • At least 1-2 years of construction work experience

  • Basic understanding and experience with wiring AC and DC systems 

  • Experience with small machinery (trenchers, skidders, etc.) 

  • Experience working with various building materials and roof types such as comp shingle, stucco, wood, concrete, etc. 

  • Knowledge of the Renewable Energy (RE) marketplace, technology and industry

  • Solar training program certification (i.e. Solar Energy International )

  • North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP)

SOLAR INSTALLER

We’re looking for someone mechanically-minded to work in the field installing residential and commercial grid-tied PV and battery-based solar energy systems. Project locations will be in Central PA. This position involves working on the mechanical as well as the electrical side of installing solar electrical systems (PV).
