History
Michael and Heather Shadow founded Sun Directed in 2008 with the goal of improving building efficiency and installing geothermal heating systems. They had considered incorporating solar sometime by 2013. In spring 2009 Michael began his solar training. That summer, after designing and installing a solar electric system for their home, the Shadows knew solar could not wait. Inspired to share the power of solar with their Pennsylvania neighbors, Sun Directed jumped ahead with their solar plans.
Solar quickly became so popular that by the fall of 2009 Michael and his team had installed, and third-party-inspected, enough solar power systems to qualify to take the NABCEP Solar PV Installer Certification Exam. We are proud to say that Michael is one of the longest certified solar installers in Pennsylvania. Collectively, the Sun Directed team has almost 50 years of experience managing, designing, and installing solar energy systems.
Tesla
Michael and Heather have been Tesla enthusiasts, since July 2009 when they met the group that drove the Tesla Roadsters coast to coast at Penn State. They became TSLA shareholders in 2012 and purchased a Model S in 2013 followed by a Model 3 in 2018. They are active and help organize local Tesla events and share the excitement of Tesla and Solar energy with everyone they meet.

Michael Shadow is a Co-Founder and CEO of SunDirected. As one of the earliest NABCEP Certified PV Designers in Pennsylvania, Michael has been involved in solar design and installation since 2009. He has led the design and installation of several hundred solar energy systems in the State of Pennsylvania, primarily in the Centre County region. Prior to founding SunDirected, Michael held technical positions at Raytheon and The Pennsylvania State University. In January 2017 he became a part time Adjunct Instructor for Emerging Energy and Infrastructure at the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Technology.

Shadow
Heather Shadow is a Co-Founder and President of SunDirected. She oversees the marketing, event coordination, and sales aspects of the company as well as the quality of their customer relationships and team member acquisition. She has organized the local National Drive Electric Event for the past 4 years. She has been an environmentalist most of her life and in her free time enjoys volunteering at The Oaks Retirement Community, Centre County PAWS, a local animal rescue clinic and at their son’s elementary school.

Jacob grew up in Bellefonte and went to Penn State for Energy Engineering. He graduated in 2018. In 2019, after 5 years working at Sun Directed in many capacities from sales, installation, design and assisting in project management, he became the sales lead. Jacob takes his engineering background into the sales process to look for solutions to fit any home or business.
